The most outstanding player on the tour right now who has come from college is Ben Shelton. He is a former University of Florida student athlete (finished in 2022) who recently has made a big statement on the ATP circuit. He is currently ranked 21 in the world with a high ranking of 13, and often talks about the joy he had whilst playing college tennis and how it built a great foundation for him then to transfer on the ATP circuit. He said in an interview once "I'm not sure that Wimbledon has the same atmosphere that college tennis does." This proves how fun college tennis is and the type of atmosphere that it can produce, college tennis is becoming something very special and that it is why so many top ranked players play at college first.


Another up and coming athlete who had great success in college tennis is Jake Fearnley who recently graduated as a student athlete at Texas Christian University (TCU). He also said in a recent interview after his successful run in this years Australian Open that "You should defiantly go to college...I don’t think in anyway college tennis is a step back I think its actually a step forward because you get to work on your fitness and be part of a team and play some unbelievable matches". You can see the joy and the benefits you get from playing college tennis but most importantly how it's a great foundation to empower your journey both athletically and personally.
It is clear to see that college tennis is the best decision you can make as an upcoming tennis professional. Speaking from experience, talking to current college coaches and previous college athletes, playing college tennis is a life changing experience and without a doubt positively push start your career either academically or athletically.
