He is a former University of Florida student athlete (finished in 2022) who recently has made a big statement on the ATP circuit. He is currently ranked 21 in the world with a high ranking of 13, and often talks about the joy he had whilst playing college tennis and how it built a great foundation for him then to transfer on the ATP circuit. He said in an interview once "I'm not sure that Wimbledon has the same atmosphere that college tennis does." Another up and coming athlete who had great success in college tennis is Jake Fearnley who recently graduated as a student athlete at Texas Christian University (TCU). He also said in a recent interview after his successful run in this years Australian Open that "You should defiantly go to college...I don’t think in anyway college tennis is a step back I think its actually a step forward because you get to work on your fitness and be part of a team and play some unbelievable matches".
